APPA is not just about protecting the Park Lands that remain. We are also in favour of reclaiming Parks. There are about 200 sites within the Park Lands that have been lost to buildings and bitumen. It's time that the public demanded back some of these lost locations, which should be held on trust for the people of South Australia.
In 2020 we will start a full-throated campaign for the return of one or more specific sites. We will be realistic, and start out with something that is achievable as a first step.
We're going to target at least one site that we believe is overdue for return to Park Lands - where the present alienated use has little justification.
Which sites should we target? We want your views. We have presented four options, below. Clearly we would like to see all four returned to Park Lands (and others!) but we are trying to be strategic and concentrate on just one, as a starting point. Which of these sites do you believe is the most likely to get public support (and YOUR support) for a return to Park Lands? We want to launch a campaign that has maximum chance of success and will generate momentum for the Park Lands.
Please rate each choice 1 to 4 with "1" as the most likely and "4" as the least likely to attract public support, in 2020, for a Park Lands restoration.
A. Car Park, Port Road, in Bonython Park / Tulya Wardli (Park 27)
B. Car Park off Montefiore Rd (in Park 27)
C. Former bitumen netball courts (the former "Edwards Park") off Anzac Highway in Park 23
D. Fenced land west of the old Adelaide Gaol off Gaol Rd in Park 27
