Kaurna name:  Wikaparntu Wirra (meaning "netball place")

Features: 

  • 24 netball courts, including lighting for night games

  • Pine trees, and sheoaks

  • Location designated for new hockey facilities, with a new sports 'hub' building intended for sharing between hockey and netball

Bounded by:  Anzac Highway, Greenhill Road, Goodwood Road.

Park Ambassador Gillian Stevens leads a Guided Walk in this Park, and the adjacent Edwards Park (Park 23 South) on the other side of Anzac Highway once per year. Check our Guided Walks page for the schedule.

Josie Agius (1934 - 2015) was a leader recognised by the Narungga, Kaurna, Ngarrindjeri and Ngadjuri communitties - one of South Australia's first aboriginal health workers.  "Aunty" Josie, as she was known, also was a strong supporter of girl's netball.

Netball has been played in the Park Lands since 1938.  In early years girls had to contend with horses “galloping over the courts while play was in progress”.
