Hurtle Square

 

English name:  Hurtle Square.
James Hurtle Fisher (1790-1875) was the first Resident Commissioner of South Australia.

Kaurna name:  Tangkaira
Also known as 'Charlotte’, from the Clare District, Tangkaira was the wife of Ityamai-itpina (aka 'King Rodney') a Kaurna Elder at the time of European settlement.

Features:  A large Moreton Bay fig tree, "The Forest of Dreams” public artwork by Anton Hart; flower beds; and a 1994 Memorial to former Chief Justice John Bray (by Steven Bowers)
