Caring for bushland

by Tricia Curtis

April was a particularly busy month for the “Regenerate” program run by Trees for Life in your Adelaide Park Lands.

It started on Saturday 5 April, with a Cultural Awareness tour, led by Uncle Frank where he shared stories about our First Nations Service men and women and then meandered along the River Torrens with plenty more past and current stories.

We then celebrated the start of the Bushcare Season with a Picnic for all volunteers.

That was followed on 17 April by a booked out Youth Week bushcare event at the Chequered Copper Butterfly grasslands in Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16)

Then, another booked out event on Thursday 24 April, where we celebrated Intergenerational Week. Bushcare was followed by a nature walk! It was wonderful to meet so many new people this month, all with different stories and all who wanted to spend time in nature.

Our next activity is this Monday 5th May. Have you been to the Walyu Yarta Community Garden in Park 21?

That’s were we will visit after a little bushcare in Carriageway Park / Tuthangga (Park 17).

Bookings are essential! Book early, by contacting triciac@treesforlife.org.au
