You’re invited to our biannual Park clean-up day! Next Sunday, to kick off autumn, we’ll be collecting waste from around the Victoria Park wetlands, prior to our Guided Walk there in April, and the completion of wetland project works.

The exhibition is being prepared! After receiving a record number of entries this year, the Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize is gearing up for the finalists’ exhibition at the Adelaide Festival Centre.

Finalist artists, VIPs and sponsors have received invitations to the official opening, on Friday 24 March, when the prize winners will be announced.

A landmark in Hurtle Square / Tangkaira of your Adelaide Park Lands has been decorated in leaves, flowers, twigs and gumnuts, and twine.

Hopes have been raised that your Helen Mayo Park might soon become more accessible as the City Council investigates whether to remove an ineffective wire fence.

The fence seemingly has no useful purpose, as it separates two parts of your Helen Mayo Park on the riverbank.

Most parts of your Adelaide Park Lands are still ‘Open Green, Public.’

But many other parts are not. Hundreds of parts have been taken from you, over the years, always for very good reasons, of course.

A State Parliamentary Committee wants your views no later than 24 February, on how to protect Adelaide’s trees.

In the lead-up to next month’s opening of the 2023 Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize exhibition, all finalist-selected artists will be invited to a Town Hall reception with the Lord Mayor, Jane Lomax Smith.

The Adelaide City Council has recognised overwhelming community support for protecting the Open Green Spaces of your Park Lands.

Despite intransigence from the State Government, the Council is now backing calls to re-think the proposed site of a new State Aquatic Centre.

If the State Government loved your Park Lands, it would help you get access to a part of your Park Lands that’s been off limits for the past three years.

However there seems to be no hurry to restore your Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) to Open Green Public any time soon.

Hundreds of artists, inspired by your Adelaide Park Lands will need to wait for another few weeks, before learning which art works will be selected as finalists in this year’s Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize.
