The City of Adelaide has been unable to re-open the River Torrens/ Karrawirra Pari through your Adelaide Park Lands due to persistent high levels of potentially harmful bacteria.
The River and the Torrens Lake were closed on 25 February and have been subject to ongoing testing.
But so far, it would appear that bacterial levels have remained persistently high. ‘Lake Closed’ signs have remained in place including upstream and downstream from the Lake area. There has been no official announcement from the City of Adelaide since the closure was announced on 25 February.
However we’ve been advised that the latest test results late last week were still showing higher levels than acceptable of enterococci.
“Lake Closed” signs even remain in place at the ornamental creek in Veale Gardens, (Park 21).
In other Park Lands management news, Kadaltilla / the Park Lands Authority has provided an update on stormwater infrastructure, bordering Carriageway Park / Tuthangga (Park 17):
