​​​Have your say on the proposed MotoGP circuit

The State Government is consulting on its plans for the proposed MotoGP circuit in Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi.

The plans involve significant permanent changes to your Park Lands, including the proposed removal of more than 400 trees and extensive permanent construction as well as disruption for traffic, local residents and users of the park lands, the ​​ongoing demands on taxpayer funds to subsidise the event.  

Submissions close at 11:59 pm, Sunday 20 September 2026. 

This is your opportunity to have your say. 

How to make a submission 

There are two ways to have your say: 

1. Complete the Government survey 

The final question of the survey allows you to upload a document, so you can prepare your submission separately and attach it. 

This is where you will have the chance to say what you think rather than be limited by the structure of the government survey.  

The Adelaide Park Lands Association would appreciate a copy of your attachment as it will be useful for our research and will enable us to check claims the government is making about how the community is responding. You can ​email us at adelparklands@outlook.com

There are a couple of mandatory questions at the beginning of the survey, but most of the remaining questions can be clicked through if you do not wish to answer them all.

2. Send your submission by email

Your submission can simply be included in the body of your email, or you can attach it as a separate document.

What could I say? 

We encourage you to write in your own words. You don't need to cover every issue. Choose the things that matter most to you. 

You can find a detailed list of concerns and questions here but a summary is provided below. 

You might want to comment on: 

  • the proposed removal of ​more than 400 trees 

  • permanent construction and changes to Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi 

  • impacts on wildlife, biodiversity and tree canopy 

  • the heritage significance of the Adelaide Park Lands 

  • the loss or restriction of public access to Park Lands 

  • whether permanent changes to the Park Lands are justified for an event held for only a few days each year 

  • the ​lack of an independent Environmental Impact Assessment 

  • the lack of a published comprehensive Cost Benefit Analysis for a project involving almost $100 million in construction costs alone, in addition to hosting costs, promotion, and running costs 

  • whether other locations for the MotoGP should be considered 

  • whether the consultation process gives the community enough information and opportunity to have a meaningful say. 

  • The disruption to traffic, school travel and use of the park lands

  • Whether more motorsports events will be added in the future 

  • The impact of this development on attempts to achieve World Heritage Listing for the Park Lands

I am writing to provide feedback on the proposed MotoGP circuit redevelopment in Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi. 

I am concerned about the proposal because [briefly explain your main concern – for example, tree removal, environmental impacts, permanent construction, loss of public open space, heritage impacts, or expenditure of public money]. 

Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi and the Adelaide Park Lands are important to me because [say something personal if you can – for example, how you use the Park Lands, why you value them, or why you believe they are important to Adelaide]. 

I am particularly concerned about [choose one or more issues and explain them in your own words]. 

Before proceeding with a project involving such significant and permanent changes to the Park Lands, I believe the Government should [for example: undertake and publish an independent Environmental Impact Assessment; publish a comprehensive Cost Benefit Analysis; provide more information about the proposed tree removals and environmental impacts; or properly consider alternative locations]. 

 

[Optional: I support bringing MotoGP to South Australia, but I do not support holding it in the Adelaide Park Lands. I believe an alternative location should be considered.]
