Parkwalk month is on

October is “parkwalk” month; an offshoot of “parkrun”… for fitness enthusiasts in your Adelaide Park Lands, and in parks and open spaces throughout the world.

To mark the organisation’s 18th anniversary, walkers as well as runners are being encouraged to participate throughout this month.

A community event will help celebrate the success of the new skate park in Gladys Elphick Park / Narnungga (Park 25) – a month after it opened.

To mark the launch, the City of Adelaide and On The Flip Side are hosting a free, all-ages Skate Daze event this Saturday, October 8. Prior to the day, APA’s Carla Caruso spoke to a few skateboarders about their views on the new facility.

Raining poems

Adelaide’s abundant rainfall this year has been good for one particular group: the crew behind the “Raining Poetry” project.

A team of postgraduate students has been busy stencilling some of your pathways with short poems, penned by talented, local writers. Like magic, the poetry becomes visible only when wet.

No Premier, WCH is not a binary choice

No Premier, WCH is not a binary choice

In announcing the State Government's latest proposed attack on Adelaide's heritage, Premier Peter Malinauskas claims that you (and State parliamentarians) must make a binary choice. He’s urging yes to a hospital, and NO to your heritage.

But he’s overlooked the best option: having both.

The State Government is drawing up legislation which, if passed, would allow a $3 billion new Women’s and Children’s Hospital to replace the Thebarton Police barracks and most of Kate Cocks Park in Park 27 of your Adelaide Park Lands.

Patrick's FOI probe on Aquatic Centre bungle

Adelaide Lord Mayoral candidate Rex Patrick has stepped in to expose the bungled State Government process that now threatens dozens of mature trees in your Adelaide Park Lands.

Mr Patrick’s FOI request will reveal whether the State Government has given any consideration to the overwhelming public feedback to support Park Lands and support a brownfield site for a new Aquatic Centre.

The former media personality is behind Ride with Keith – a friendly Wednesday group ride, traversing the Adelaide Park Lands and beyond. Keith chatted to us about his favourite city routes, doing “official blessings” with water bottles of new parts, and more.
